- Workers modify the garment — rolled sleeves, knotted hems and opened zips all destroy both visibility area and weather sealing
- PPE that fits badly gets worn less — the most reliable way to reduce compliance is to issue something people hate wearing
Certification assumes the garment is worn as designed. A Class 3 jacket worn two sizes too big no longer delivers Class 3 coverage in practice.

A genuine women's fit is re-drafted from the block, not scaled:

- Bust and waist shaping so the torso band of reflective tape sits level around the body instead of riding up at the front

- Pocket and hood placement re-positioned for the new proportions
